Dear Reader,
I share here what I like and what works for me. If you've been following me, you know that I can change my mind from time to time, and feel free to comment that I'm completely wrong, you may be right. I'm not running a business. I'm not paid and have never received any compensation or facilitation for any review/brand/site here mentioned. In case one day we'll ever meet, I'll be the one offering you a cup of Italian coffee, too.

Jane Eborall's medium size seahorse: part III

You can find her pattern here:
Lo schema si trova a questo link:

I followed Jane Eborall's visual diagram and her numbers for rings and chains.

The eye is the ring number 17. Have you already tried to put a bed inside a ring? There's a tutorial to read, by Jane Eborall:

Other possibilities:
Altre possibilità:
- You may watch this video by Marilee Rockley, even if is a different method from Jane's:

- But if a true ring is really challenging for you, you may want to try a mock ring, following this tutorial, by Jane Eborall:

Whatever method you choose, you should have a beaded ring with this stitchs' count:

Ring 17: 1ds, join to the very small picot of previous ring, 4ds, leave the sapce for a very small picot, 4ds. In case you chose Jane's method, like I did, here is how I closed the ring.
R17 opened

R17 opened, bead
R17 closed
Let's got to the top of the head:
Cominciamo adesso la testa:

Chain: 8ds - arco di 8nd.

R18: start a normal ring: 3ds, join to the picot of the eye, 3ds, leave a picot long enough for adding a bead to, 3ds, close.
R18

R19: normal ring of 3ds, put a bead in the last picot of R18 with the help of a hook, join to this beaded picot, 3ds, picot (same size as previous, leave a picot long enough for adding a bead to), 3ds, close.

R20: normal ring of 3ds, put a bead in the last picot of R19 with the help of a hook, join to this beaded picot, 3ds, put a bead in the last picot of SR14 with the help of a hook, join to this beaded picot, 3ds, picot (this is going to host another bead), 3ds, close.

R19, R20

gauge for 7 beads long picot
At this point, the back starts: here there are very long picots, where 7 beads need to be put on. I measure 7 beads aligned, then cut a slice of cardboard of the same lenght, to be used as a gauge. The truth is that, in my case, they were half inch wide, so I vertically used one plastic collar stay for men dress shirt.

SR21: start a split ring, with SH2 thread around your hand. With SH2 tat 3ds, put a bead in the last picot of R13, with the help of a hook, join to this beaded picot, 2ds. With SH1, tat 4ds, leave the space of a long picot to host 7 beads (with the help of the gauge), 4ds. Close the split ring.

SR22: start another split ring, with SH2 thread around your hand. With SH2 tat 6ds, put a bead in the last picot of R12, join to this beaded picot. Now with SH1: 2ds, put 7 bead in the last long picot of SR21 with the help of a hook, join to this beaded picot, 2ds, very long picot (with the gauge, for 7 beads), 2ds. Close.
Chiudere.

SR23 is similar to SR22: start a split ring, with SH2 thread around your hand. With SH2 tat 6ds, put a bead in the last picot of R11, join to this beaded picot. Now with SH1: 2ds, put 7 bead in the last long picot of SR22 with the help of a hook, join to this beaded picot, 2ds, very long picot (for 7 beads), 2ds. Close.
Chiudere.
SR21, SR22, SR23
SR24: This is the last split ring. With SH2 thread around your hand, tat 4ds, put a bead in the last picot of R10, join to this beaded picot. With SH1: 4ds, put 7 bead in the last long picot of SR22 with the help of a hook, join to this beaded picot, 2ds. Close.
Chiudere.

Now there's the last chain, where I prefer to hide at least one end of thread with the method of finishing with SSSR. If you don't know about it, you may want to read this tutorial by Miranda. It could be applied also to SSSC. I hide the other end with the needle.

http://tattingfool.blogspot.it/2011/07/finishing-with-sssr.html

Chain: 10ds, cut&tie or tie&cut. I did in this way: 3ds, I bent the SH2 thread to create a loop to finger tat with, 7ds more, then wrapped the loop around the tail, put it in position between SR8 and SR9, pull SH2 shuttle to block it. Cut SH2 and cut and hid SH1 with a needle.
Arco: 10nd. Chiudere e tagliare o tagliare e chiudere.
SR24, closure
Tah-Dah! That's all folks!
Tah-Dah! E questo è tutto gente!

Ciao,
Ninetta
